Addison is a town in Washington County, Maine. The town was named after English author Joseph Addison.

According to the US Census, the town has a total area of 97.2 square miles of which 42.4 square miles is land and 54.8 square miles is water.

As of the 2000 census, Addison had a population of 1,209 people, 489 households, and 341 families with a population density of 28.5 people per square mile, and 723 housing units at an average density of 17.1 per square mile.
